MJ 1988 Slam Dunk Champion ... I wonder how far he could have long jumped in track and field? He was amazing!
Zane probably knows more than 30 ASL signs. It is amazing how fast he picks them up and understands them. When the SM2 DVD first came out a couple months ago, we were in Fred Meyer when Zane said, "Spiderman loves me." Now that is a strange thing for Zane to say, he normally doesn't say things like that. At the same time, out of the corner of my eye I see the Spiderman poster on the wall of the Electronics Dept. When Spiderman shots his webs he is making an upside down sign for I-Love-You. Zane saw that and associated it with the sign. I thougth that was pretty cool.

Learning Languages

A few years ago, Lori and I were able to take some classes in ASL (American Sign Language), we have really enjoyed getting to know this language and a little about the culture of the deaf. Lori knows and understands much more ASL than I do.

We have taught Zane some signs and I was quizing him the other day and was quite suprized on how many signs he is able to recognize and comunicate. Probably around 30 signs.

This last year I have not worked much on learning new signs or practicing. I am beginning to practice more with Lori and Zane.

I also am wanting to learn Spanish. My goal is to learn 5 words or phrases a week in spanish and ASL. I have found some good sites on the net that teach Espanol and there are some for ASL, too.

Buenos dias=good morning.
Buenas tardes=good afternoon.
Buenas noches= good evening.

Internet: There Is A Day Coming

by Tony Whittaker

“An incredible new technology enables the transmission of text on a worldwide basis. It rapidly reduces production and distribution costs and for the first time allows large numbers of people to access text and pictures in their own homes.”

What is this referring to? You’ve guessed it. The invention of the printing press by Gutenberg. It transformed education, communication and evangelism. It has shaped the world culture we know today. The computer revolution and the Internet are also changing the way we communicate, for ever. This will impact Christian evangelism and discipleship in ways which are only just beginning. Just as the Roman road system in New Testament times enabled the rapid spread of the Gospel, so also the Internet is becoming an effective worldwide channel for evangelism.

But the sad thing is – relatively few Christian groups are using the Web for real evangelism. There are 40,000+ English-language Christian websites, but the overwhelming majority are targeted entirely at Christians. There are over 150,000 church websites, but again, most are written largely for their own members. Yet the opportunities are vast. There are nearly 100 million Internet users in China. 70 million are online in Japan. India will soon have 60 million, Middle East 17 million. Right across the West, the majority of households have access to the Web. . .
